Svenja Gudell
Svenja Gudell is Chief Economist at Indeed, leading the Indeed Hiring Lab and a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Jobs and Frontier Technologies. She recently served as Vice Chair on the Federal Economic Statistics Advisory Committee and on the Board of Directors for the National Association for Business Economics. Prior to joining Indeed, Svenja was Chief Economist at Zillow Group. Previously, Svenja worked on economic, financial, and strategic consulting for Analysis Group, and was an assistant economist in the research group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Svenja has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Rochester, a master’s degree in Economics from New York University, a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Rochester, and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Rochester.
Chris Glynn
Chris Glynn is Director of Data Science at Indeed and leads economic data initiatives for the Indeed Hiring Lab, using proprietary labor market data to monitor global labor markets. Prior to joining Indeed, Chris was head of forecasting and risk at Zillow and previously served as an assistant professor at the University of New Hampshire and a research associate at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. His research has been published in leading statistics and machine learning journals. He holds a Ph.D. in statistical science from Duke University, an M.S. in mathematical finance from Boston University, and a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of New Hampshire.
Laura Ullrich
Laura Ullrich is Director of Economic Research in North America at the Indeed Hiring Lab. Prior to joining Indeed, Laura served as a Senior Regional Economist and Senior Manager at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, primarily focused on research related to higher education and workforce dynamics. For over a decade, Laura was an economics professor and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs at Winthrop University. Her research interests include higher education, community college policy, labor participation, and the economic impact of local development. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Georgia and a master’s and doctorate in Economics from the University of Tennessee.
Pawel Adrjan
Pawel Adrjan is Director of Economic Research for EMEA and APAC at Indeed and a Research Fellow in Economics at Regent’s Park College, Oxford. He leads research on labour market trends to inform businesses and policymakers. His work, often produced in collaboration with academics, think tanks and international organisations, is regularly featured in global media. Before joining Indeed, Pawel held senior risk management roles at Goldman Sachs and Barclays in New York and London. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Oxford.
Matthew Jensen
Matthew Jensen is Global Head of Government Relations and Public Policy at Indeed, focusing on digital and workforce policy including artificial intelligence, platform responsibility, workforce development, and skills-first hiring. He helps shape initiatives that leverage AI and labor market data to inform evidence-based policymaking and improve job matching and worker mobility. Matthew serves as Vice Chair and board member of Internet Works and previously held senior leadership and legislative roles in the U.S. government and at leading technology companies. He holds a Master’s in International Business and Policy from Georgetown University.
Christopher Kurz
Christopher Kurz is an assistant director in the Division of Research and Statistics at the Federal Reserve Board. His
responsibilities at the Board of Governors have ranged from running the Industrial Output section to forecasting industrial production, motor vehicle sales, and coordinating the Board forecast of GDP.
Christopher’s research interests are broad and cover international trade, international finance, nontraditional data, and economic history. Research projects of Christopher’s have employed microdata to quantify the effects of international trade on employment volatility at the firm level and back tested systemic risk measures using historical banking data. Over the past decade, Chris has also been working on the Federal Reserve Board’s Expanded Measurement Agenda (EMA).
Aitor Lacuesta Gabarain
Aitor Lacuesta is the head of the labor market and households’ division at the Banco de España. The main topics of his research are labour market developments, determinants of potential output growth (mainly related to migration and education) and the impact of structural policies in the economy. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago. He joined the Banco de España in 2005 where he started his career as Economist of the forecasting department working in labour issues. He has also lectured at Deusto Business School and IE business school. He has held several positions, including macroeconomic advisor at the office of the Economics Secretary of State of Spain between 2010 and 2011. Lacuesta has published his work in top international economic journals such as Journal of Human Resources, Journal of Development Economics, European Economic Review and Journal of Public Economics.
Ezra Karger
Ezra Karger is a senior economist in the economic research department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. He conducts research in the areas of labor economics, public economics, economic history, and forecasting. Prior to joining the Chicago Fed in 2021, he received a B.A. in mathematics, statistics, and economics and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago.
Emily Nix
Emily Nix is a labor economist who studies the economic impacts of violence against women, the gender income gap, inequality, and human capital accumulation. Her research and expertise have been featured in the Economist, the Guardian, the Financial Times, NPR, and more. She has worked as a consultant to both the Minneapolis Federal Reserve and the World Bank. Nix is also an award-winning teacher who made news in 2020 when she created a DIY light board to enhance the remote learning experience for her students. Nix received her PhD from Yale and her BA from UNC Chapel Hill where she was a Morehead-Cain scholar.
Gabriela Galassi
Gabriela Galassi is a Senior Economist in the Labour and Inflation Team of the Canadian Economic Analysis Department at the Bank of Canada. Her research interests include labour economics, applied econometrics and big data. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from the European University Institute in Florence in 2018.
Angel Rodriguez
Angel Rodriguez is currently the Head of Staff of the Economic Intelligence Unit at the Directorate General for Economic Policy in Spain’s Ministry of Economy, where he works on issues ranging from labour markets and housing to energy and insolvency policy. Previously served at the Spanish Treasury, contributing to financial stability work in international forums such as the FSB and the OECD, and earlier began his career in M&A consulting. He holds an MSc in Computational Analysis from the University of Chicago and degrees in Economics and Law from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Member of the High Corps of Economists of the Spanish Government.
